Reiki Workshop

Bronwyn Ward- Reiki master will be running a Reiki level 1 Attunement workshop at the Chandos Clinic . The workshop will be held on the 30th October 2011 from 10am until 4pm. This will be a day of discovery with the Usui method of Reiki healing. You will learn about the history and principles of Reiki and be attuned to the first level of healing,the level of self healing. 15 MILLION DRIVERS AT RISK OF WHIPLASH DUE TO BAD SEATING POSITIONS

Drivers who fail to wear seatbelts correctly are at risk of injury according to the British Osteopathic Association (BOA). While most people are fully aware that wearing a seatbelt saves lives, the majority are not aware that the way they sit in a car plays a huge part in their personal safety.

The results of a survey by the BOA has found over one in ten drivers (13%) sit too far back for their seatbelt to offer effective protection in a frontal crash. To be effective, the belt should be sitting over the bones of the pelvis and not the stomach preventing internal injuries and in contact with the shoulder to prevent serious neck injury. Sitting too far from the belt can often lead to submarining - where the occupant slips under the belt which can cause catastrophic injuries.
Half (45%), 15 million3, of all UK drivers do not drive in a position where their head is close enough to the head restraint or they sit too far back for their seatbelt to be effective, so that in an accident, they would be at risk of sustaining a serious whiplash injury. Furthermore, only 6% of people adjust the head restraint regularly, despite the fact that most people travel in a variety of vehicles (as drivers, passengers and in taxis for example) and half of all drivers surveyed (51%) said they never adjusted their head rest at all.

Bronwyn practises in Aromatherapy Massage, Holistic Massage, Indian Head Massage and Reiki.

These lovely treatments can help to warm up and stimulate your body during this cold time of the year (and when we are least physically active and sometimes at a low ebb). They are also a great way to get some healthy relaxation time.

Osteopaths at the 2012 Olympic Games

Osteopaths at The Chandos Clinic feel strongly that osteopathy can be hugely beneficial to sports people to help their injuries and aid performance, so the news that osteopaths are being recruited for the 2012 London Games is wonderful news. We hope that this move helps to raise public awareness about the potential benefits of osteopathy within the world of sport.

The British Osteopathy Association has this to say on their website, you can visit them online for more words on this subject.......

‘This is the first time that osteopathy has been included in the host medical services provision at an Olympic and Paralympic Games. Osteopaths will be working alongside sports medicine doctors, physiotherapists, chiropractors, sports massage practitioners and podiatrists treating the elite athletes’.

You can visit The Osteopathic Sports Care Association website for further information on how osteopathy may be able to help a sport related injury or issue.

The Chandos Clinic is in the process of producing an ‘Osteopathy for Sports Injury’ leaflet so as to give our patients better information.

The Chandos Clinic website has undergone a well-needed re-vamp and is now live. The new site has a very fresh and friendly feel and was created to truly represent the clinic itself. We have created clear and concise information for patients about our practitioners, and the treatments they offer, and have extended our links page so as to provide a useful resource. You will find a handful of genuine patient stories, which tell positive tales of how osteopathy and complementary therapy have helped individuals. We held a photo shoot at the clinic in order to capture the practitioners at work, the results of which look great - we particularly like this one of Giles Cleghorn and Alex Prince treating a baby together. Many patients have already commented on how good the site looks, and how welcoming it is, and we are really pleased with it. We hope you find it useful when you have a browse.
